Vince Zampella, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The renowned game designer passed away following his automobile collided and burst into flames on a motorway in LA on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This is a devastating loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's family, his loved ones, and all those touched by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
