Thrice-crowned award winner Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Triple NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" knee injury when the Nuggets were defeated 147-123 against the Heat.
The star player was hurt in the latter stages of the opening half following an inadvertent coming together with team-mate Spencer Jones.
His teammate came down on the footwear of the big man, who promptly collapsed to the ground grabbing his leg.
The star, that leads the NBA season in rebounds and assists, had 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before sustaining the injury.
Jokic will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the seriousness of the injury.
"Immediately, he knew something was wrong," commented Nuggets coach David Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever who gets hurt, that's gut-wrenching, most notably somebody as special as Jokic. We will know more on Tuesday."
"We will continue together. Obviously, at this moment, I'm more worried about Jokic personally and the letdown of going through something of that nature."
