Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with performances so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
