Last Friday, immediately following a national appellate court ruled that the government is required to fully fund nutritional assistance disbursements, the White House turned to the nation's highest court in a further effort to halt the directive.

Within hours, the highest court issued an urgent ruling temporarily blocking entire Snap food aid benefits, which nearly 42 hundred thousand people rely on to feed their families.

“Government lawyers will not stop fighting, day and night, to support and promote the president's agenda,” the top legal officer announced on social media just after 9:30pm ET.

White House staff had petitioned the federal appeals court to stop a judicial decision requiring them to distribute the upcoming full monthly food stamp assistance in the middle of a US federal government shutdown, and was denied that afternoon.

The High Court Issues Emergency Order Stopping Entire Nutrition Assistance Disbursements

The high court’s order came after the administration petitioned a national appeals court this past Friday to halt a judicial directive that it provide this month's full monthly Snap assistance amid a US federal government shutdown.

After that request to stop got rejected, the administration appealed to the high court in a new effort to halt the order to completely finance food stamp disbursements.
