A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

It might not have been at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, provided by a local firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
